Artist Biography: Jeff Love Born in 1961 into a farming family from Ohio, Jeff spent his early years with a pasture of sheep, acres of corn and a red prairie barn as his playgrounds. As Jeff watched his grandfather shepherd a flock of sheep or harvest a field of corn, a love for nature grew. Art was always of interest to Jeff and the two seemed to go together well. A move to Colorado during his early teen years brought about a new love to build his growing interest in art on § The Rocky Mountains. Excelling in art in school, a high school teacher recognized that Jeff needed to go farther and encouraged him to take college courses while in high school at an art school in Colorado Springs where he explored various mediums and styles. After high school, Jeff studied art in college in Kansas City, Kansas, furthering his skills which led to an award in watercolor and representation in a gallery show. After college, Jeff felt a call on his life to a career in ministry and has spent many fulfilling years helping others discover their unique giftedness and purpose in life. Ministry has taken Jeff to Colorado, Nebraska, West Texas, and Arizona, where he now lives. During these years, Jeff focused his continuing education in ministerial studies, painting mostly for enjoyment and as an outlet. Finally in 2007, Jeff recognized that an important part of his own life-purpose was creating and painting. Jeff is a firm believer and has taught countless many that it is never too late to become the best that God intends you to be. Actively pursuing painting with the inspiration and encouragement of instruction from some of his favorite artists, Jeff’s medium of choice is oil in which he has dedicated himself to exploring the Arizona landscape both en plein air and in the studio. Jeff loves to teach, paint and study art, wander the wilderness looking for just the right light, and his paintings are often inspired from some remote mountain location in the high desert of Southern Arizona. Feb 2011- Jeff was awarded an art scholarship based on merit from The Friends of Western Art. Sept 2011 – Jeff was awarded an art scholarship based on merit from the Scottsdale Artist’s School. Can be hung as-is, painted sides, gallery wrapped canvas! Big and small Galleries, Museums, Grand Canyon Association, Corporate collections , US. Senators, Hollywood personalities, BBC programs and the. New ABC television series Whiskey Cavalier have all hung a Wm. Hawkins original work on their walls. Please be patient with me as I work to paint, photograph, list for sale and package our little attempts at making the walls a better place to live (for our eyes). My wife Carmen helps me a lot as do a couple of the kids grown but not forgotten! As always, please feel free to contact me directly with any questions about the work or commissioning a custom work. The smaller paintings are often studio or life studies and oil sketches and though they are pretty snazzy in their own right, they are not the same as the larger more developed easel paintings. That said, let me know if you’re interested in commissioning a larger version of this or any other painting. I’m glad to do it. Many of my paintings have thick paint and can take a while to cure completely. The thick passages may still be a bit soft. With a few weeks cure time the paint will stiffen and the new aroma of natural walnut oil will fade completely. Please be aware that my paintings are meant to be viewed FRAMED. As fantastical as they may be and as pleased as you might be with your winning of my unframed little masterpiece be aware that the magnitude of your ocular felicity will increase exponentially as soon as you see the painting framed. They are best viewed and enjoyed with a simple profile dark or gold leafed plein air or craftsman style frame like the one pictured. The colors, drawing and composition of the artwork will all stand out and come together in a most pleasing-to-the-eye fashion when once framed. Enjoyment of any given painting will increase greatly when viewed while FRAMED at eye level on any wall. I strongly suggest having a frame ready for its first viewing or… Drive the unopened package directly to your favorite frame shop without anyone ever seeing the painting in its naked state. I can make a painting to your size and design specifications… Or another version of your favorite scene of a W Hawkins original. Just send me a note requesting information about special order paintings and I will get back to you. I can make another version of any of my paintings you see here or on the the blog link below, on the canvas size that best fits your needs. This painting was made in the studio. I typically work from reference images such as past paintings, studies painted from life or photographs. I have done quite a bit of painting “en plein air” but mostly I paint in the studio creating works that are either inspired by references mentioned above or from the many fond and indelible recollections of the 4000 plus paintings I’ve made over the past 38 years. Award winning, Published, Listed artist. Art calendar magazine, International Artist, 3 yrs. Museum, Corporate & Private collections. The back of the painting. This painting was done with the highest quality archival material. This painting will last the ages! Not Framed, but could be hung with a nail using the wire already installed. EXAMPLE of a Certificate. (included with every painting). Thank you so much for stopping by. As you probably already know my name is Chuck Black. I’m an oil painter and I currently reside in Bozeman, MT. Above all I love everything outdoors. I’m a wildlife conservationist at heart. My passion is everything about the outdoors and art is just a way I can express that. Im set out to capture the outdoor lifestyle that I’ve lived for 29 years my age! If you would like to know a little more about myself then feel free to visit my website. To follow me and my work. Growing up along the countryside of Minnesota and Wisconsin provided me with a passion for the outdoors ever since I can remember. What I remember most is I was always trying to capture my time spent outside on paper. I’ve always loved to draw, but somewhere in my heart I knew that wildlife was what I really wanted to do. I received my bachelors degree in wildlife biology from the University of North Dakota. I worked for six years as a wildlife professional for Theodore Roosevelt National Park, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, and the Minnesota DNR. Over this time I’ve had the honor of gracing both the 2013 Colorado duck stamp as well as the 2015 California duck stamp with my paintings. My art is now displayed in hundreds of private collections around the world. Since relocating to Montana I’ve now taken my art full-time. I hope to grow as an artist in the coming years as I continue to be inspired on a daily basis by the beauty of Big Sky Country. I’ve loved exploring the rural areas of my country over the years. We have so many wonderful communities with extraordinary amounts of scenic countryside where the wildlife thrives. Sharing these times with my close friends and family has created memories that will last my lifetime. It’s these memories that inspire me to create. Life itself is beautiful. I want my art to reflect that inspiration and connect with those who share that similar love. The idea behind Wildlife and Art is to use my artwork to fund my efforts towards a better environment. I believe a great place to start is with our youth. I’ve been collaborating with the US Fish and Wildlife Service to come visit with their local school districts. I think it’d be great to get actively involved in our school system to get more kids excited about the outdoors, conservation, and our Federal Junior Duck Stamp program. Imagine if we could have dozens of more kids in each school who shared a similar love for wildlife conservation. Think of the impact that could have for the future of our natural resources. I want to use my wildlife artwork to fund my efforts for a better environment and more awareness towards what we can all do. So many in our country and our world have become disconnected from the natural environment and something needs to start changing right now. Each time I make a visit I’m overwhelmed by how engaged and enthusiastic the kids are. Watching how excited they become over the art and the wildlife excites me even more. I’m often reminded of myself when I was their age which inspires me to work even harder as an artist and a conservationist. This enthusiasm makes me realize how important it is to expose our youth to conservation and the outdoors. Artwork can be such a vital tool in this regard as it often can hold so much power. I’m beginning to add a couple more visits each year to my schedule and I hope that I’m able to expand this nationwide in the near future. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for your support in my work. If you have any questions at all about this drawing, please do not hesitate to ask! The copyrights of this painting are reserved by the artist, Chuck Black. The purchaser, under no circumstances is allowed to reproduce this image in any way. If you received the painting and it is damaged, then take pictures of the painting and the package and send them to myself, Chuck Black.
