This listing is for the original oil painting of a village next to a fjord that you see in the photos. It is signed on the reverse W. It looks to me like the Land of Midnight Sun written along the bottom edge of the painting was probably written by the same hand with the same ink that signed the reverse. The wood and gesso frame measures close to 27 3/16 by 23 ¼ inches. The area of the painting exposed by the mat measures close to 18 ¾ by 14 5/8 inches. The painting is an oil painting on finely woven canvas. It looks like the somewhat unusual looking mat was made with cardboard that had an image printed on it. The framed painting weighs close to 5 pounds 4 ounces. The condition is much like you see it in the photos. The painting and frame are generally in very good condition with some small signs of age. Close-ups show a small/tiny area of paint loss above where Land is written and three others near the left hand edge of the painting. Otherwise, the paint looks stable. If I look closely, I can see faint or subtle lines near the top and right hand edges that were caused by the canvas resting against the stretcher. They are not easy to see. If I angle it to a light, I can see some light rolling distortions in the canvas that are normally not very noticeable. In other words, it is not perfectly flat. Otherwise, the painting is generally fine. The frame shows some small amount of light damage that you can get an idea of by looking at the photos. Otherwise, painting and frame are generally fine and as shown. I guarantee this painting to be as described and represented by the 22 photos after the general description. The photos are part of the description. Please look at all of them. Please know that the lighting in my photos is uneven and that there might be shadows or reflections. The colors on my monitor look close to but not exactly like the actual colors. Different monitors may show different colors.
