Robert Goldman is a landscape painter and teacher known for his bold use of color and light. His work is based on plain air field studies and studio work. After 25 years living and showing his work in San Diego, California, he now resides with his wife in Tucson, Arizona. He also enjoys life drawing and is recognized in local sketch groups for his ability to depict the human form, as well as his candid linear ink drawings of the participating artists. Robert attended the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles, California, and the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. His on-going education has included training with Ray Vinella, John Asaro, Wolf Kahn, Wayne Thiebaud, Matt Smith, Jove Wang, Phil Starke and Ray Roberts. 00 award at the Lana International Art Competition juried by Wayne Thiebaud in San Francisco, California. In addition to yearly awards of excellence at the Tubac Center For The Arts in Tubac, Arizona, he has received back-to-back first place awards at the Tucson Plein Air Painters Society shows. Numerous magazine articles have featured his work, including the cover article in the Artists Magazine (1989 September); the American Artist Magazine (October 1994); and Southwest Art (December 2001, and January – February 2002).
