Steve Walker Original Painting, The Painters, Acrylic on Canvas, 48X36
For sale a never before offered original painting by Steve Walker. Signed on the front lower corner. Signed and noted on the back. The painting is embellished with a custom wooden frame. Discussing his art Walker stated, Remove the gender of the paintings subjects and what we have is human relationships in general, and one’s relationship to the world itself. As a homosexual, I have been moved, educated and inspired by works that deal with a heterosexual context. Why would I assume that a heterosexual would be incapable of appreciating work that speaks to common themes in life, seen through my eyes as a gay man? If Walker were an abstract or landscape artist, he said his sexual orientation would not matter. However, since his paintings are about his life, his sexual orientation became more important than his age, cultural background, or nationality. In an autobiographical note Walker states, My paintings contain as many questions as answers. I hope that in its silence, the body of my work has given a voice to my life, the lives of others, and in doing so, the dignity of all people. Steve Walker passed away on January 4, 2012 at his home in Costa Rica. Steve Walker’s work has been exhibited in galleries in Montréal, Los Angeles, Fort Lauderdale, Key West, and Provincetown. ARTIST: EDGAR BARRIOS (PERU). MEDIA: OIL ON CANVAS. SIZE: 48 X 36 INCHES. Edgar Barrios was born in Tacna, Perú in 1960. He developed an interest in art that lead him to enroll in the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes del Perú (ENBA) from which he graduated in 1990. He explored and studied different fields of the visual arts such as craftsmanship, batik, macramé, leather embossing and ceramics painting. In 1989 he was awarded the Honorable Mention at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes. Barrios then commenced his path through the art world. A path in which he experimented with his knowledge of art, the techniques he had studied, and the experience that he was gaining as each stroke was being placed on the canvas of his life. Years of hard work paid off with the development of a unique and vibrant style, full of emotion and overflowing with talent: he reached the full and mature art level that characterizes his work today. From then on, his masterpieces paved his way to international exhibitions. Barrios vibrant colors, and his romantic scenes, transport us to a forgotten enchanted place: ancient Venice. His precise use of light, bring his characters out of the canvas giving them life in an otherworldly reality. His knowledge of different kinds of craftsmanship made him the ideal portrayer of a medieval Venice rich in exuberant colors, textures and fabrics.
