This is an original GREEN TARA Thangka, that is written on a canvas using natural colors. This thangka comes with beautiful silk brocade or applique. The Green Tara is believed to be a spiritual concert of Amogasiddi Buddha. In the Buddhist tradition, Tara is believed to be good woman that brings all good fortune and prosperity. Size with the Silk Brocade: 24 x 34-inches (61 cm x 86 cm). Size of Painting : 11-inch x 14.5-inch (28 cm x 37 cm). The thangka is not a flat creation like an oil painting or acrylic painting but consists of a complex subject. Generally, thangkas last a very long time and retain much of their luster, but because of their delicate nature, they have to be kept in dry places where moisture won’t affect the quality of the painting. The Thangkas serve as important teaching tools depicting the life of the Buddha, various influential lamas and other deities and Bodhisattvas. The Thangka, when created properly, perform several different functions. Images of deities can be used as teaching tools when depicting the life (or lives) of the Buddha, describing historical events concerning important Lamas, or retelling myths associated with other deities. Art for sale here may have been made very recently. Or, it may be 10 or more years old. I stand completely behind all of my work that is for sale, here, whenever it was created. And if you like it, that’s all that should matter. So, many of my canvas stretches were made by me. I also make many of the frames. This does increase the works value – imagine if you owned a Picasso where he made the stretcher and the frame!
